Isaiah Washington Joins NBC’s Bionic Woman

Isaiah Washington doesn’t waste any time. He hasn’t taken his “shunning” from ABC and from many in the public as a sign to disappear for a little while, but just to switch networks. He’ll be guest starring on NBC’s Bionic Woman this fall- hopefully he doesn’t have any issues with powerful females with robot parts. Personally I’d find that more threatening than a gay man on set, but that’s just me.

While Grey’s Anatomy fans will be inclined to follow Kate Walsh to her new show, Private Practice (considering she hasn’t upset anyone and she’s still Addison Montgomery), Washington may not be able to count on a whole lot of Grey’s fans following him. Those who don’t feel he’s much at fault will probably follow along as well as those who choose to leave celebrities’ personal lives and personalities out of it when it comes to watching their characters on TV.

This is what NBC’s hoping for according to USA Today: “Katherine Pope, president of NBC’s Universal Media Studios, says that despite the public baggage, Washington is a ‘brilliant actor’ and she believes viewers will re-embrace him. ‘I think people watch characters on TV, not personalities’ in the news, she says,” (Levin).

So, whether Grey’s fans are forgiving Washington for his “public baggage” and for taking away their Dr. Burke, Washington is moving along asap, perhaps in hopes of finding new fans and later more compatible fellow cast members.
